Mimbo
Privacy Policy

Your family's stories stay yours.

This page explains what information Mimbo uses, why, how long we keep it and what you can do about it. Notice version 2026-10.

Last updated: October 2026

The short version

  • A grown-up sets up the family and decides, feature by feature, what each child can do.
  • What children make stays private to the family unless a grown-up approves sharing and it passes a safety review.
  • We don't show ads, we don't sell or rent personal information, and there is no chat between users.
  • Spoken ideas are turned into text on the device. We don't receive or keep voice recordings.
  • Photos are optional, need a grown-up's permission and are never published. The original is deleted after it's turned into a cartoon face.
  • You can export your family's data or delete a child's profile or the whole account at any time in the Parent Zone.

Who we are

Mimbo is an app and website (mimbo.app) operated by Izeesoft. Write to hello@mimbo.app with any question about this policy or your family's information.

What we collect, and why

InformationWhy we use it
Grown-up account: email address, country and region, language, sign-in details, parent PIN (stored only as a secure hash)To create and protect the family account, apply the rules for where you live, send account messages and let you open the Parent Zone.
Child profiles: a nickname (never a full name), birth date (stored encrypted), favorite color, interests and settingsTo set the right age band and privacy defaults, personalize idea suggestions and run the controls you choose.
What children create: ideas typed or spoken (as text), characters, worlds, shows and episodesTo make, store and play their episodes in your family's library, and to run safety checks before anything is shown.
Photos (only with a grown-up's permission)To create a cartoon version of your child for your family's private episodes. The original photo is deleted after processing; the cartoon face is stored encrypted.
Activity: what was made, watched, shared or asked for, and screen timeTo show you the activity timeline, apply screen-time and bedtime limits and keep progress in the studio.
Purchases: store transaction identifiers and the plan or credits boughtTo verify purchases with Apple, Google or our web payment provider and add credits. We never receive card numbers.
Product statistics: a short list of events with pseudonymous identifiers, country onlyTo understand which features work. These events never include a child's identifiers or anything a child typed.

We don't collect precise location, contacts, children's full names, schools or addresses. If an idea contains personal details, Mimbo's safety checks remove them.

How episodes are made

Mimbo uses generative technology to write each story, draw the scenes, voice the characters and score the music. Ideas and stories may be processed by carefully chosen service providers acting on our instructions to do that work. Every idea, story and finished episode goes through safety checks before anyone sees it, and anything that doesn't pass stays private.

Who we share information with

  • Your family. Episodes and characters are visible only inside your family unless a grown-up chooses otherwise.
  • The community, only with approval. If sharing is switched on, a child can ask to share an episode; a grown-up approves it and it passes a safety review first. A public username (like @GentleSloth15) is used, never a real name, and photos are never part of anything public. Approval can be withdrawn.
  • Service providers who host our service, process payments through the App Store, Google Play or our web payment provider, send email and help make episodes. They may use information only to provide their service to us.
  • When the law requires it, or to protect a child's safety.

We don't sell or rent personal information, and we don't show advertising.

Children and parental permission

Mimbo is made for children, and a grown-up creates every family account. Depending on where you live, we ask a parent or guardian for permission before a child can create, use a photo, use voice ideas or share. Permissions are listed per child in the Parent Zone under Consents, and each one can be withdrawn at any time; withdrawing photo permission deletes the cartoon face.

How long we keep information

  • Profiles, settings and creations: for as long as the profile exists. When you delete a profile or the account, it's removed after a 14-day grace period.
  • Removed episodes: deleted within 30 days.
  • Photos: originals are deleted after processing; the cartoon face is deleted when photo permission is withdrawn, the profile is deleted or a new photo replaces it.
  • Grown-up verification records: 24 months.
  • Product statistics: raw events for 90 days, then only totals.
  • Purchase records: as long as financial record-keeping rules require.

Your choices

  • Change each child's settings and permissions in the Parent Zone.
  • Export your family's data from Parent Zone → Privacy & data.
  • Delete a child's profile or the whole account from the same place.
  • Ask us anything, or ask for access or correction, at hello@mimbo.app. You may also have rights under the law where you live, including complaining to your data protection authority.

Security

Information travels encrypted. Birth dates and photo cut-outs are encrypted in storage, media is delivered through short-lived signed links, and access to the Parent Zone needs a grown-up's password or PIN.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll tell grown-ups in the app and ask again where permission is needed.
